Q: Is my collection right for an estate sale?
A: First and foremost, it is essential that you and your loved ones are very clear about what you want to keep and what would be included in the estate sale. Call us to schedule a complimentary consultation which can be virtual or in person, depending on both your and our schedules. During our in-home consultation, we tour the involved parts of the house, discuss the belongings for sale, and outline how we would execute the sale.
Q: I am putting my home on the market. At what point should I have an estate sale?
A: This depends, in part, on when the house needs to be cleared out for your realtor to show it to prospective buyers. Is your home in escrow and you’d like us to clear it out before closing? We can work to accommodate such pressing concerns. Our one requirement is that the client must have already moved out prior to the date we begin prepping the sale.
Q: I only have a few pieces I need to sell; can you sell them for me?
A: It depends on the pieces. Large pieces of furniture are a tough sell, even in a full estate-sale setting. Please contact us for advice.
Q: Do you clean the home once it’s empty?
A: We do the heavy lifting of the full clear-out after the sale, and we can we do a final cleaning as well.
Q: I see something in one of your photos I want to buy. Can you hold it for me? Can I buy it over the phone?
A: We do not allow phone purchases for a couple reasons. A two-dimensional photo may not accurately reflect the condition of a vintage item, so it’s important that you see the item in person to better assess its condition. You are welcome to put something on the “hold table” while you are shopping the sale in person. Arranging a later pick-up of items purchased is negotiable. But we do not hold something for a phone request or that was left on the hold table after you depart the sale.
Q: What if I want to return something I purchased at the estate sale?
A: Everything at our sales is sold as-is. There are no refunds or exchanges.
Q: Will I have to wait in line to get into your sale?
A: There could be a line to get into the sale, particularly at the start of each sale day. Due to concerns about Covid-19 and more generally to provide an enjoyable shopping experience, we do limit the number of people in the home at the same time. We appreciate your patience.
Q: If I am unable to pick up my pieces during your estate-sale hours, what do I do?
A: We are happy to arrange a convenient time for you to pick up your purchases. Please collect your purchases before we do the final clear-out, or we may be forced to kick them to the curb.
Q: Can alcohol, food, and even medications be sold at an estate sale?
A: Sorry, but we cannot sell liquor, food, or medications. [Medical items such as wheel and shower chairs can be sold. Sellers, be sure that your insurance company is not expecting them to be returned.]
Q: What other items cannot be sold?
A: Cable boxes (and their remotes) need to be returned to the cable company. We can do this for a nominal fee.
Q: Why should I choose your service?
A: We assure you that we will make your life much easier by handling your estate sale. Our carefully considered staging with traffic patterns in mind, our professional signage and tags, the smartly draped tables, our helpful staff members as well as our advertising on the highly trafficked websites– all this and more will ensure a high turnout of buyers and your highest yield from the sale.
